"Art microscopist" T. H. Saunders showcases sixty images of his craft -- pictures captured with high def photography and precision optics microscopes. Dazzling images of mundane objects -- Tylenol doped with coffee, tea, wine, beer and more -- are no larger than the tip of a needle and are recorded using cross-polarization lighting techniques. It sounds technical, but there's nothing confusing about the colorful, whimsical patterns that Saunders creates with his combination of art and science. On display through Jan. 3.

Nearly 30 of the acclaimed contemporary artist’s works — with an emphasis on sculptural installations — come to St. Petersburg. Poetic and psychologically charged, Dill’s constructions often combine fabric and figures (or dress forms) with text to spellbinding effect; featured works respond to poetry by Emily Dickinson, Salvador Espriu and Franz Kafka. Expect to be moved by the artist’s ideas and awed by her craft. From 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Fri., Oct. 30 and Nov. 20, MFA Director Dr. John Schloder leads a private gallery tour followed by a gourmet luncheon. ($35). From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sat., Nov. 21, kids can create paper dresses and poetry bracelets, go on a scavenger hunt and more for "Lesley Dill Family Day." (on this date only, receive one free child admission for each paid adult). On display Oct. 10-Dec. 27; visit fine-arts.org for more info.

The museum's permanent collection is considered to be the world's most comprehensive of Dalí's
work and provides an excellent overview of
Dalí's major themes and symbols. Characterized by diversity, his oil
paintings range from the impressionist
and cubist styles of his early period to his later, more famous, surrealist canvases. Newly added is Una noche sin fin, a video installation by Barcelona artist Mabel Palacín that's translated as "an endless night," through Jan. 24. Gems is a collection of jewelry, paintings, drawings, glassware and flatware designed by Dali, culled from the museum's vaults and on display through April 18. An opening reception is held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Fri., Nov. 13. Regular hours are 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Mon.-Wed. and Fri.-Sat., 9:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Thurs., and noon-5:30 p.m. Sun.
