The museum's collection is considered to be the world's most comprehensive of Dalí's
work and provides an excellent overview of
Dalí's major themes and symbols. Characterized by diversity, his oil
paintings range from the impressionist
and cubist styles of his early period to his later, more famous, surrealist canvases. Newly added to the exhibit is Una noche sin fin, a video installation by Barcelona artist Mabel Palacín. Translated as "an endless night", the film addresses the context and content of the permanent collection. In her use of high-speed film capture and time lapse techniques, Palacín demonstrates how images condition our comprehension of the contemporary world. Opens July 10. Hours are 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Mon.-Wed. and Sat. (open until 8 p.m. Thursdays, and 6:30 p.m. Fridays), noon-5:30 p.m. Sun. Admission: $15 adults, $13.50 seniors, $10 students ($5 admission 5-8 p.m. Thursdays).
